About Us

    BB Technology Ltd is a Hongkong based trading and engineering service firm (located at 12/F, Weswick Commercial Building, No. 147 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong) working on behalf of a group of US and European companies to develop and expand their business value in China.

Background of Executive Team

1. Peter Batey

Prior to founding Vermilion, Peter Batey was Chairman of Batey Burn, a leading advisory firm specialising in assisting foreign companies in investing in China and inthe acquisition of local companies since its establishment in 1989. He became Chairman of APCO Asia, the Asian affiliate of the Washington DC-based public affairs firm APCO Worldwide, upon its acquisition of Batey Burn in 1999.

Peter is Chairman of the China Index Fund, and a director of the LIM China Opportunities Fund. He is a director of a number of Sino-foreign joint venture companies and wholly foreign-owned enterprises.

He is also Chairman of the Great Britain China Centre (a non-departmental government body focusing on the promotion of exchange on constitutional, legal, human rights and civil society issues between Britain and China) and a member of both the Executive Committee and Council of the China Britain Business Council.

Peter served as Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China 1994-96 and was one of a handful of businessmen who founded the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China in 1999, serving initially as Vice President and later as President in 2001-02.

Peter has lived and worked in China since 1986, in the first instance assisting in the establishment of the Arthur Andersen & Co.'s Chinese presence, and serving as its Chief Representative in China. He graduated from Oxford University and joined Citibank in 1981. In 1982, he became political private secretary to former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath

He was awarded the OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 1997 for services to Sino-British trade. Peter speaks fluent Mandarin and is based in Beijing. .

2. Richard Burn

Before becoming Director of Diageo Corporate Affairs, for Asia/Greater China, Richard Burn was CEO of APCO Asia and managing director of APCO/GCI Hong Kong.

In 1989, Mr. Burn co-founded the China market entry and investment consulting firm, Batey Burn. Batey Burn was acquired by APCO Worldwide in 1999.

From 1986-1989, Mr. Burn was political private secretary to Sir Edward Heath, the former British prime minister responsible for the restoration of full diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and China. From 1981-1986, he served as an administrative officer in the Hong Kong government, including postings to the

Economic Services Branch, the Lands Department and the New Territories Administration.

Mr. Burn is a British citizen and currently serves as a member of the general committee and chairman of the China committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He was educated at Oxford University, where he gained a First Class Honours degree in Literate Humaniores (Classics). Mr. Burn speaks Cantonese.

3. William McDowall

William McDowall, British citizen, former Director of Jardine Matheson for China and has many years experience in business particularly in China.

Since 1984 Mr. McDowall operates his own company, William McDowall & Co Ltd. The business scope is the sale of instrumentation and engineering equipment to the petrochemical, iron and steel and gas industries in China.

4. Eva Ng

Eva Ng

Eva Ng, a Singapore citizen, has a background in Hi-tech merchandising and management particularly in greater China. She held executive position in William McDowall & Company Ltd in Hongkong and worked for Elsag Bailey-PAS Singapore from 1996-1998.

Miss Ng is Managing Director of BB Technology Limited.
